Overnight lane closures planned on Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge

Motorists travelling along Autoroute 40 (Trans-Canada) between Vaudreuil-Dorion and Montreal’s West Island will face overnight lane closures on the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge as maintenance work continues this week.

The Quebec Transport Ministry (MTQ) says one of three eastbound lanes on the span linking Vaudreuil-Dorion to Senneville will be closed from 9 p.m. Wednesday until 5 a.m. Thursday. The bridge crosses the Lake of Two Mountains and serves as a key link between the Montérégie region and the Island of Montreal.

In the opposite direction, one of two westbound lanes will be closed between Senneville and Vaudreuil-Dorion from 10:30 p.m. Wednesday until 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

Officials say the partial closures are required to carry out ongoing work on the aging structure, which has been the subject of extensive repairs and traffic restrictions in recent years.

Drivers are advised to plan for slower travel times and to use caution when passing through the work zone. The ministry recommends checking Quebec 511 for real-time traffic updates before heading out.

The Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge is a heavily used commuter corridor, and even partial closures can lead to congestion, particularly during peak travel periods and late-night freight movement.
