Oasis are expected to make a major announcement this morning after Noel and Liam Gallagher fuelled speculation about a reunion.

The Manchester brothers have not performed on stage with one another since breaking up in 2009 but are reportedly set to reunite at a string of gigs next year.

The Gallaghers both posted a short clip of the band’s logo on Sunday on their social media feeds teasing an announcement at 8am this morning along with the official Oasis account.

Liam and Noel’s fractious relationship began to thaw during late night phone calls.

A source told The Sun: ‘Noel and Liam are never going to be the best of friends but they want to bring Oasis back for the fans.

‘They aren’t getting any younger and the demand is huge. They decided it was now or never. Noel dug his heels in for a long time but has finally caved and agreed to return.

‘He spoke to Liam on the phone and they are on the same page. They know this reunion will go down in music history.’

Liam gave the biggest hint that his relationship with Noel had healed by dedicating the Oasis track Half The World Away to his estranged brother during his headline set at the Reading Festival on Sunday evening.

Introducing the song – a 1994 B-side that also featured as the theme tune to sitcom The Royle Family – he told revellers: ‘I wanna dedicate this song to Noel f**king Gallagher.’

It’s not just fans who’ll be jumping for joy about Liam and Noel burying the hatchet to reunite the iconic Britpop band.

The siblings’ mother, Peggy, 81, has been pleading for years for the warring brothers to make up.

The doting Irish mother was bullish in Liam’s 2019 documentary As It Was as she

declared how they are all going to get along in the New Year and ‘that’s it’.

A source close to the Gallaghers told The Mirror that Peggy ‘would love to see them back playing together and has always urged them to stop arguing and put the past behind them’.

She will be thrilled too with what has happened

The hint of a reunion has got Oasis fans salivating – and they are happy to raid their savings to fork out a whopping £500 for a ticket.

However, plenty told MailOnline that they doubt the truce will last, as ‘anything could happen’ – and some even think the tour will get cancelled after Noel and Liam have yet another fallout.

Wesley, from Wrexham, North Wales , said: ‘I think they will probably reunite. I love Oasis, I’ve seen them loads of times, but it’s been on and off for so long.

‘I’m very excited – but I don’t think we’ll get tickets, is the trouble.

‘They’ll cost a lot of money. I’d probably spend £500 max, no more than that. It’s a lot of money.

‘I think the truce will last about two shows max, to be honest with you – I can see them going back to the old ways.’

What’s the story…

Good morning and welcome to MailOnline’s live coverage as we await a major announcement from Oasis at 8am.

Fans will be eagerly anticipating the outcome after Noel and Liam Gallagher fuelled speculation of a comeback on their social media accounts.

It comes amid reports the Manchester brothers are pairing up for new shows next year with Wembley and Heaton Park chosen as venues for the reunion.
