Katy Perry Upgrades ‘143’ Album With ‘1432’ Deluxe Version

Katy Perry’s seventh studio album 143 arrived in September after a rollout filled with highs and lows from the lukewarm reception of lead single “Woman’s World” to the Crystal Waters-sampling “I’m His, He’s Mine” with breakout rapper Doechii, complete with a performance at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. Now, to close out the year and prepare fans for her upcoming tour in support of the album, Perry has released 1432, the deluxe version of the dance-pop project.

1432 features four new tracks alongside the set of 11 that were featured on the original LP. Like nearly every song on 143, “I Woke Up,” “Has a Heart,” “No Tears for New Year’s,” and “OK” were produced by embattled producer Dr. Luke. And though winter might be upon us, the new music, like those on 143, is well-fit for a summer day at the beach or on a boat.

“I’m so grateful for making this record. I always wanted to make a dance record, a dance-pop record,” she told Zane Lowe back in September. “With 143, it’s kind of three different things. It’s the quintessential me, with empowerment messages and uplifting messages, and then it’s real dance and real rhythmic.”

As for what’s next musically, Perry hinted to fans earlier this year that her next album could be a total sonic opposite of the upbeat 143. “I’ve been talking about [doing] two albums the past eight years and that’s a dance album and an acoustic album,” she said in an Instagram Live in July, per Variety. “I finally made the dance album, the album I always wanted to make.”

Perry will be spending most of next year traveling around the globe on The Lifetimes Tour, her first concert tour in nearly a decade. It all kicks off April 23 in Mexico City and wraps up Nov. 5 in Paris.
