Pies for every occasion! Where to buy pies in Houston for the holidays or everyday
Whether you need the perfect pie for your holiday meal or just have a craving for a slice, this episode of “Eat Like a Local with Chris Shepherd” is for you. It’s all about pies and the family stories behind them. If you’re planning to bake at home, there’s even a lesson on perfecting your own pie crust.
First up in the show, Chris explores the resurgence of Katy’s cult-favorite shop, Proud Pie, which has found a new home within local Dish Society restaurants.
Proud Pie at Dish Society
At Dish Society, Chris tries some of Proud Pie’s most popular flavors, including the State Fair Caramel Apple pie, Miss Daisy’s Fudge pie, and a chocolate-toffee-caramel combo, the Wobbly Turtle.
House of Pies
Next, it’s over to the iconic House of Pies, a staple in the city since 1967, known for its selection of over 40 pies all available daily.
During his visit, Chris indulges in classic favorites such as Dutch apple and pecan pie, plus a house specialty, the Bayou Goo. This decadent creation combines cream cheese, vanilla custard, and chocolate whipped cream into a rich and indulgent treat that lives up to its name.
Just when Chris thinks his pie adventure is over, he learns there’s a pie shake! See which pie flavor he throws in the blender by watching this episode!
