Nordstrom sweater worn by Luigi Mangione during court hearing IMMEDIATELY sells out

Luigi Mangione appeared at the Manhattan Criminal Court in New York yesterday, but it wasn’t his alleged murder that had people talking – instead, his burgundy sweater took the spotlight.

The 26-year-old – who has been as dubbed the ‘hot assassin’ – has been accused of killing UnitedHealth CEO Brian Thompson, who was shot dead on December 4 as he walked to a Manhattan hotel where the United States’ biggest medical insurer was holding an investor conference.

But Mangione, who pleaded not guilty on Monday to state murder and terror charges, has spawned a legion of fawning fans who are obsessed with his good looks and fashionable choices.

Last week, the Ivy-league graduate gained attention online after he was spotted with a fresh haircut and appeared to have had an eyebrow trim.

This week, it was his fashion choices that caused a stir, as he sported a crisp, white collared shirt, maroon knitted sweater, light grey slacks, and orange shoes at the courthouse.

The Nordstrom knit sweater – which has been likened to the sweaters worn by the Menendez brothers during their infamous trial – has already sold out.

Immediately, Mangione’s fans tracked down the Marino crewneck top, which retails for $89.99 and is currently 30 percent off, and rushed to purchase it.

At first, it was believed that Mangione was wearing a $1,000 Maison Margiela sweater.

However, fashion commenter Antonio Padilla debunked this, posting his findings to X, formerly known as Twitter.

‘This is not Margiela. It’s a Nordstrom Merino Wool sweater he got on sale lol,’ he posted, with a picture of the burgundy sweater.

At the time of publishing, the sweater is no longer available in Burgundy Royale, the color Mangione wore, on the Nordstrom website.

And X users were quick to point out that the sweater was rising in popularity after he wore it.

‘They’re completely sold out of burgundy,’ one user responded.

‘Luigi was wearing a Nordstrom sweater on sale and not Margiela because he’s a humble and modest king,’ wrote another.

‘Luigi’s Nordstrom sweater is actually sold out are you guys OK?’ questioned someone else.

‘I saw Luigi Mangione wearing the Washable Merino Crewneck Sweater in Burgundy Royale from Nordstrom so I bought the Washable Merino Crewneck Sweater in Burgundy Royale from Nordstrom,’ joked another X user.

The alleged assassin has reportedly received thousands of dollars in donations and hundreds of handwritten letters in jail, a legal insider has said.

Last week, FEMAIL reached out to experts following a viral tweet claiming that Mangione had his eyebrow’s threaded with dental floss while in prison.

A user tweeted, ‘A fade and threaded eyebrows in jail? They are trying to start a revolution,’ in response to before and after pictures of the University of Pennsylvania graduate.

The X user went on to explain, ‘It’s a prison fade and floss thread, they only got so much behind bars y’all.’

Kopelman Hair Restoration hair transplant surgeon Dr. Ross Kopelman, who specializes in eyebrow restoration, told DailyMail.com, ‘If the brows were shaved by a barber, we would typically expect to see a flat, even stubble surface left behind, especially when viewed up close.’

Dr. Kopelman explained that when brows or trimmed with clippers or a razor, ‘the result might look clean from a distance but would lack the precise definition.’

‘Threading, on the other hand, involves removing hairs at the follicle level, which creates a sharper, cleaner appearance around the edges of the brows,’ Dr. Kopelman, who’s based in New York, told FEMAIL.

‘This method is particularly effective for sculpting intricate brow shapes because it removes even the fine, vellus hairs that shaving often leaves behind.’

‘Threading could explain the polished look of his brows, though it requires skill and a tool – traditionally, a cotton or polyester thread twisted to pull hairs out by the root,’ Dr. Kopelman theorized.

He added that the online claim about threading with dental floss was ‘technically plausible,’ but less conventional.

‘Threading relies on the friction and twisting action of the thread to pluck hairs, and dental floss, being strong and pliable, could potentially work in a similar manner,’ he explained.

‘However, achieving professional-grade threading results with floss would require significant skill and precision.

‘It’s not something an average person could easily replicate, particularly without prior threading experience.’

Dr. Kopelman believes that Luigi would have had to improvise in prison with ‘makeshift tools,’ like ‘small, sharpened objects to trim or shave the brows, or even fire-singed methods to burn away hairs in a controlled manner.’

‘These methods could potentially result in a clean look, but achieving Mangione’s level of refinement under such conditions would require creativity and expertise.’
