Huge brawl breaks out at murder suspect’s hearing as six court officers wrestle unruly
A Long Island courtroom erupted in chaos when a murder suspect appeared before a judge for the first time, only for a violent melee to break out in the gallery, forcing at least six court officers to intervene.
The volatile scene unfolded after Nassau County Judge Terence Murphy ordered 18-year-old Jeremias Ferrufino-Rodriguez held without bail on charges of second-degree murder.
Moments later, an emotional supporter, believed to be a relative of the defendant, stood up and began yelling repeatedly: ‘Hold your head up!’
Tensions instantly boiled over as New York state court officers rushed in to remove the man, but the situation spiraled out of control.
The struggle turned violent as the spectator resisted prompting the brutal takedown as half a dozen officers wrestled him to the ground.
Shouts and cries rang through the packed courtroom as officers forcibly dragged the man out of the chamber.
The unruly spectator was dragged out and charged with contempt, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Meanwhile, a woman in the public gallery was clearly disturbed by the spectacle.
