A 21-year-old man injured in a shooting on Friday morning died of his injuries in hospital.
Montreal police confirmed the man’s death Saturday. He was one of three people found injured within 15 minutes of each other at two separate locations.
Police received a 911 call at around 1 a.m. on Friday reporting a man had been shot inside an apartment on Théodore Street, near Ontario Street, in Montreal’s Mercier-Hochelaga—Maisonneuve borough.
At the time, Montreal police spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils said two residents of the apartment, a 39-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man, were at the scene when multiple suspects — at least three — showed up and an altercation occurred.
One of the suspects was shot and found with injuries to his upper body. He was transported to hospital in critical condition. Police later identified him as the 21-year-old man and confirmed he died in hospital on Saturday afternoon.
The other suspects fled the scene, where police later found a firearm and shell casings.
The 39-year-old woman who lives in the apartment was also transported to hospital with a minor injury to her hand.
At around 1:15 a.m., paramedics found a 17-year-old shot and injured near a Montreal hospital. Police said on Saturday that they did not fear for his life.
Initially officers thought they were maybe dealing with two separate incidents but confirmed on Saturday the events are linked and being investigated as a home invasion.
