Step inside the rustic N.J. mansion where a silo is part of the house
An antique barn from Lancaster County was reconstructed on this New Jersey property and made into a more than 13,000-square-foot mansion complete with a 35-foot silo.
The three-story, 2,000-square-foot, 1800s barn is the centerpiece of the six-bedroom home with six full bathrooms and two half bathrooms. And the silo houses a curved staircase that goes to the second story and lower level of the home.
The rustic estate, set on more than 62 acres in Lebanon, is listed for sale for $7.25 million.
“It’s creative, it’s clever, it’s comfortable. It’s not overwhelming,” said Jeff Fellers, who listed the home along with his wife Louise Ann Fellers of Kienlen Lattmann Sotheby’s International Realty.
The seller bought the property in 1982 to use as a hunting lodge and then in 2009 built the spacious home as a place for his family to gather for Thanksgiving, Fellers said.
The property has seven structures in addition to the main house. These include an event barn, a horse barn with four stalls, and a pump house that supplies water to two ponds.
There is also a tractor barn, a detached garage with space for 12 cars, and a tool barn, which is the only original building on the site. A guest house completes the property, offering four bedrooms, two full baths, and one half bath.
The main entrance to the home leads the antique barn.
“You’re first taken by the structure of the barn,” Fellers said. “Then it’s the modern functionality.”
The foyer has a 7-foot-by-8-foot coat room. Beyond that is an expansive living room with a large stone fireplace and three-story tall ceilings.
The first floor also has a billiards room, a dining room that can seat at least 14 people, a kitchen and breakfast nook that share a double-sided fireplace with the dining room, a porch and a cigar room.
There are also two ensuite bedrooms, including the primary which has a dressing room, his and hers walk-in closets and more.
The second floor features four additional bedrooms and a sitting room that can serve as a fifth. One bedroom has an en suite bath, two share a Jack-and-Jill bathroom and there is another full bathroom as well.
The lower level features a massive 40-by-41-foot recreation room and a saltwater indoor pool. Nano doors open an entire wall of glass, seamlessly connecting the pool area to the outdoor kitchen.
Additional amenities include a wine cellar, an 11-seat wet bar, a chef’s kitchen, two half bathrooms, a game room, storage, laundry and mechanical rooms, a dog grooming room with its own entrance from outside and an attached three-car garage.
There’s also a smokehouse and bocce court on the property.
The home has radiant heating, an air system for the cigar room, an elevator, smart home automation, security cameras and both the main and guest houses have their own generators.
The property is surrounded by preserved farms and is about 15 minutes from shopping or dining. Routes 78 and 24 are nearby and New York City and Philadelphia are each about an hour and a half away.
Of the 62.75 acres, about 60 acres are assessed as farmland and leased to a hay farmer, Fellers said.
“It’s a special place that offers everything you could want and every opportunity you can imagine,” Fellers said. “It’s one of those places where you have to see it to believe it.”
