Paloma Faith reveals battle with ‘guilt and stigma’ after breaking up with father of her

Paloma Faith admitted that she was wracked with ‘guilt and stigma’ after breaking up with the father of her children in an emotional This Morning interview on Wednesday.

The New York singer, 44, who is currently expecting her third child with her partner and music venue director, Stevie Thomas, expressed her delight that she has ‘created a joyful house again’.

She was previously in a relationship with artist Leyman Lahcine from 2013 to 2022 and the pair share two daughters, aged nine and four.

Admitting that she feels ‘inspired’ to create again, she said of her latest musical release: ‘The concert we’ve put out is about the ending of my relationship with my children’s dad. There was so much stigma attached to that.

‘This feeling of guilt and responsibility for ending a relationship that I had children in took some time.

‘I learned to be a single mum, and then fell in love again, and just thought, “Well, life, you get one.” And so now I’m having another baby, and it’s so nice.’

The star said her now blended family is ‘very modern’ and ‘everyone gets on really well’.

She added: ‘There’s no animosity, and I’m a bit like, I can’t even believe this is my life.

‘I did a special for the podcast with my mum, where she says, I think one of your greatest achievements, in my opinion, that you’ve ever done is the way that you handled your breakup.

‘You’ve still got an amazing relationship with your children’s dad and you’ve moved on and created a joyful house again.’

The film Paloma is referring to in the interview is The Glorification of Sadness Concert Film, which is set to premiere on February 22.

It features footage from her 2024 tour of the album of the same name, as well as her greatest hits.

She has previously spoken about how the album documents the breakdown of her relationship with her children’s father – and her subsequent journey to reclaim her identity.

Paloma is due to welcome her third child in the first half of this year and is otherwise busy with her podcast, Mad, Sad and Bad with Paloma Faith.

She said she was ‘completely shocked’ when she discovered that he was a traitor, but has no hard feelings towards the comedian, who went on to win the celebrity edition of the show for his chosen charity.

She said: ‘I’m just like, privileged for any second with him and we’ve gone on to do some hilarious social media stuff about it together and had a bit of fun.

‘It’s completely impossible for me to hold a grudge.’
