Art By The Water, Chris (Knuckles) Nilan and the Liam Foundation
The “Art By The Water” artist group is very pleased to partner once again with The Liam Foundation of the Montreal Children’s Hospital. The 17th annual art exhibit and sale will take place at the Beaconsfield Yacht Club on the shores of Lac St. Louis on April 24 and 25 in Beaconsfield along the picturesque Lakeshore Road – 26 Lakeshore H9W 4H3. Everyone is invited to attend, browse the paintings, see the charming club with a history of over 200 years and enjoy this unique art exhibit held both inside the old stone building as well as outside under the large elegant and cozy tent and also under the large, covered veranda. Whatever the weather – visitors will be comfortable
Bob Field’s Birch Forest
The Art By The Water exhibit starts off with a delightful vernissage on the Friday from 6pm – 9pm and continues on Saturday and Sunday; 10am to 5pm. Admission is Free, and Visitors will have a chance to win a beautiful painting. Approximately 200 paintings will be up for sale and a percentage of sales will benefit The Liam Foundation.
The Liam Foundation was created by Liam’s dad, Kevin. Little Liam became very ill and was admitted to the Montreal Children’s Hospital when he was 5 years old. Through the constant support of Liam’s family, he has made great progress with the dedication and persistence of Liam’s dad, Kevin, who refused to give up hope in saving his son’s life and the lives of other children world-wide.

Kevin has worked tirelessly with doctors and researchers at the Montreal Children’s Hospital and hospitals world-wide over the years to find a cure for mitochondrial – POLG disease. He was determined to seek out new trials and treatments that could take place at the Liam Mito Center at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. He also wanted to help other children with this devastating disease. Through constant fundraising, hard work and sleepless nights, the Liam Mito Center is now officially open. The goal of the LMC is to help families with children worldwide who are also battling mitochondrial disease. The center has already accepted children from England, Holland, Germany and the USA.
The centre will work with other hospitals, doctors and researchers from around the world. The Liam Foundation along with the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation will fund the center and will be seeking out new medications and trials. The Liam Foundation has committed $90,000 over 3 years for a new trial drug for 15 kids in the province of Quebec and has committed $500,000 over the next 5 years towards the LMC. The Liam Foundation has also committed another $100,000 over 3 years for a dedicated PhD student to help support the center’s initiatives.
A Walk Through The Forest by Aud’rey Riley
Liam is now 12 years old. Shortly after starting the trial in 2022, Liam started to walk again after having lost the ability after weeks of constant seizures. He is more aware of his surroundings. He tries to communicate. He has become stronger. His seizures are under control.
Chris Nilan, former NHL hockey legend is the ambassador of The Liam Foundation. Chris has been a valuable source of strength, hope and best friend to Liam. Chris states; “There’s something about Liam that steals your heart, and he has certainly stolen mine”. Visitors can meet Chris during the vernissage.

Sinclair Maloney – Gentle Stream by Mountain
Please mark your agenda to visit Art By The Water the weekend of April 24th. Liam, Kevin and Chris Nilan will be in attendance. The artists have been painting and planning for another very successful art show that has attracted visitors from The Eastern Townships, the Laurentians, Eastern Ontario, Brossard, Laval, Town of Mount Royal, Westmount, NDG, St. Laurent and many other places in the Montreal region as well as all over the West Island.
In addition to the regular members of Art By The Water, three invited guest artists will also be participating.
Sinclair A. Maloney comes from a background in photography, working professionally for over 15 years. This has aided him greatly towards composition for painting. Sinclair has a keen eye which leads to his precision style of painting. He concentrates primarily on landscapes and seascapes inspired mostly by the realistic artists of the 1800’s, namely Corot and Courbet and is often compared with Turner for his atmospheric look. Sinclair’s success as an artist is his dedication to his work.
Liliana Perodeau – Town in Springtime
Bob Field’s earliest and fondest memories are of painting ‘en plein air’ with his dad. Together they wandered through the forests, lakes and mountains in the Laurentians and Eastern Townships and during these walks, he first fell in love with the landscapes of these beautiful regions. As a self-taught artist, he captures landscapes with bold colours and strong contrasts with impressionistic freedom.
Liliana Perodeau, a professional landscape designer and ceramist, was born in Poland. Beautiful scenes of nature, life events and places she has visited influenced her approach to art. Her drawings, watercolour and acrylic paintings as well as her latest mixed media style are considered semi-abstract set in an illusionary way.
Tara Chartrand Grand Marnier
Tara Chartrand has joined as a permanent artist, and she brings a wealth of knowledge and talent to Art By The Water year after year. Tara draws inspiration from pleasurable foods, the nostalgia of rural landscapes and vernacular architecture. She works primarily in oils, acrylics and gouache, while still deeply enjoying drawing and sketching. Tara is a professional art framer and the manager of Galerie d’Art in Pointe Claire. Tara’s painting Grand Marnier is one of her many paintings that can be seen or purchased.
Visitors, art collectors and those with art curiosity are welcome to browse the paintings, and if one painting inspires you, all the artists will be present during the expo to meet and answer your questions.
The yacht club will be transformed into a 3-day art exhibit and sale. Enjoy the ambience of the historic and charming yacht club.
