This Taco Bell Fan-Favorite Dish Is Officially BACK On The Menu: ‘My Prayers Have Been

Estimated read time2 min read

  • Taco Bell is bringing back its fan-favorite shredded beef after a three-year break.
  • The birria-inspired protein returns in the Shredded Beef Dipping Taco and is also appearing on Nacho Fries for the first time.
  • Fans are thrilled about the comeback, though many are also using the moment to campaign for other retired favorites.

Taco Bell’s menu is built on featuring the same core ingredients in different configurations into tacos, chalupas, or Mexican pizzas. So when the chain rolls out a unique limited-time protein, it feels like a much bigger deal than your average menu update.

After a three-year hiatus, Taco Bell is officially bringing back its fan-favorite birria-inspired shredded beef. The protein first debuted in August 2023, right around the height of America’s birria renaissance. But the nation’s love for the dish hasn’t gone away, so reviving the limited-time menu item was basically a no-brainer.

The comeback takes form as the Shredded Beef Dipping Taco, filled with shredded beef, a three-cheese blend, and a creamy jalapeño sauce. The whole thing is packed into a white corn tortilla with a grilled cheese crust and a zesty red sauce for dipping (just like you’d do with consommé). It’s equal parts tender, crispy, and indulgent, all for just $3.99 each.

The chain is also using the shredded beef comeback to roll out something brand new: Shredded Beef Nacho Fries. The limited-time menu item starts with a bed of Taco Bell’s seasoned fries, then gets loaded with shredded beef, pico de gallo, a three-cheese blend, nacho cheese sauce, and creamy jalapeño sauce. The saucy loaded fries are definitely a fork-required kind of meal, but they offer a new way to enjoy the chain’s fan-favorite protein for $5.49.

Fans, naturally, were excited to hear the news. One Instagram user said they “dreamt of this,” and another wrote, “Omg my prayers have been answered.”

While plenty of people were excited about the shredded beef, others immediately used the moment to plead for old favorites to come back too. “Bring back the enchirito,” one user wrote. Another chimed in with, “Where’s the beefy crunch burrito? I demand answers.”

The odds of Taco Bell reviving every retired meal in 2026 seem slim, but the shredded beef is still a win we can get behind. Both the Shredded Beef Dipping Taco and Shredded Beef Nacho Fries are available now at participating Taco Bell locations for a limited time.
