Cooking for a cause – Whistlestop BBQ Festival has something for the whole family

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Since 2001, the Whistlestop BBQ Festival has been a beloved Huntsville tradition.

And in its 24th year, over 50 teams took to Huntsville’s MidCity district Friday and Saturday for a chance to show off their barbeque cooking skills for prizes and bragging rights.

Cody Morgan, Whistlestop BBQ Festival organizer, said the festival is more than just for barbeque lovers.

“We have face painting for the kids, we‘ve got bounce houses for the kids, tons of food. Not just barbeque, if you‘re little ones are a little picky. We’ve got other stuff here. Tons of snacks like popcorn and candy. And then we have a full bar for the adults, a 20-foot screen for the games, so we kind of have it all here,” Morgan said.

Proceeds for the Festival benefit the EarlyWork’s Children’s Museum.
