Guacamole Mexican restaurant will close in Penfield NY

A popular Mexican restaurant is closing its doors after 9 years in business, first in East Rochester and currently in Penfield. Guacamole Tacos and Margaritas will have its last dinner service on Saturday, Dec. 21; owner Gareth Aylett announced on Facebook that he was not renewing his lease.
Aylett, a native of Mexico City, started the fast-casual Guacamole Authentic Mexican Taqueria on West Commercial Street in East Rochester in 2015. In 2022 he moved to a larger space at the corner of Route 441 and Liberty Street in Penfield.
In doing so, he made the leap to full service and a full bar and changed its name to Guacamole Tacos and Margaritas. Its outdoor patio was a popular gathering place in the summer.

Both places featured tacos, burritos, rice bowls and tortas. The Penfield restaurant’s menu added dishes like loaded nachos, fish tacos, chicken enchiladas and alambre — chicken, steak or pork al pastor mixed with fajita vegetables, chorizo and melted cheese, served alongside beans and warm tortillas.
After the restaurant closes, Aylett will continue to offer his fare through his food truck and catering service; follow Guacamole’s social media accounts for updates.
“I would like to sincerely thank our amazing employees and all the support from our community over the years,” Aylett said via a texted statement. “We look forward to keep offering our fresh quality food in a different capacity.”
Guacamole Tacos & Margaritas is open 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 4:30 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday through Dec. 21.
The cozy dining room, accented with decorative items Aylett purchased in Mexico, has a dozen or so tables. The restaurant also has a large patio.
