Blurred Lines music video director Diane Martel died on Thursday at the age of 63.
The artist, who had also worked with Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey and Miley Cyrus, had been living with breast cancer.
Her family said she was surrounded by her loved ones when she passed away at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in Manhattan, according to Rolling Stone.
Martel was best known for directing Robin Thicke video Blurred Lines featuring T.I. and Pharrell, and starring model Emily Ratajkowski.
But she also worked with big name artists including Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Sting, Pink, Coldplay, Nicki Minaj and Alicia Keys.
Martel was close to Cyrus and directed many of her music videos such as We Can’t Stop, Malibu and Younger Now. And the artist was behind Christina Aguilera’s mesmerizing video for Genie In A Bottle.

She worked on JLo’s Hold You Down and the Get Right remix.
Martel was also the director behind Carey’s video for her smash hit 1994 track All I Want for Christmas Is You.
The director and Carey collaborated on the videos for Miss You Most (At Christmas Time), The Roof and Breakdown as well.
Martel was behind Avril Lavigne’s Nobody’s Home video and Addison Rae’s Obsessed clip.
The last music video Martel directed was in 2023 for Alicia Keys’s song Lifeline.
The New York City native also worked as a choreographer on Bloodhounds Of Broadway and REM’s Shiny Happy People.
Martel was behind the camera on the documentaries House of Tres about voguing in the New York ballroom scene, which came out in 1990.
And she had a hand in 1992’s Reckin’ Shop: Live From Brooklyn, a PBS documentary about hip-hop dancers in Brooklyn.
She worked with Miley Cyrus on the music videos for We Can’t Stop, Malibu and Younger Now

Martel was born in New York City on May 7, 1962.
Her uncle was theatre producer and director Joseph Papp.
He was known for creating Shakespeare in the Park, which aimed to make classical theater accessible to all people.
Papp also established The Public Theater in what had been the Astor Library Building in Lower Manhattan.
