This N.J. development, just 30 minutes from Staten Island, will be anchored by Bass Pro
A Bass Pro Shops store will serve as the anchor tenant for the Riverton redevelopment project in Sayreville — a massive $2.5 billion undertaking in Middlesex County, New Jersey.
According to our sister site, NJ.com, plans for the Sayreville site — hailed as the largest mixed-use development site in New Jersey’s history — were approved in 2019. The project plans call for retail, restaurants, office space, hotels, parks, a marina, and 2,000 residential units.
The property, which is owned by the Sayreville Economic & Redevelopment Agency, is approximately a 30-minute drive from Staten Island.
NJ.com reported that the Bass Pro Shops will be a cornerstone retail business of the expansive mixed-use development, which aims to transform the waterfront property into a major destination along the Raritan River.
Exterior construction work on the Bass Pro building is expected to be completed this fall, redevelopment agency officials said.
“The steel frame of the long-awaited Bass Pro Shop is now visible to every car that passes over the Driscoll Bridge,” the redevelopment agency said in an August update.
When completed, the building will be turned over to Bass Pro Shops for interior construction.
Sayreville will be home to the second Bass Pro Shops in New Jersey. The other one is located in Atlantic City.
