Coroner looking into MoWest death
The Quebec Coroner’s office is looking into the death of a 66-year-old woman in Montreal West, after she was discovered early Sunday evening by the Montreal fire department, SPVM spokesman Jean-Pierre Brabant told The Suburban.
Brabant said that around 6 p.m., the fire department was checking into homes during the long power failure that affected part of the town, as well as neighbouring Côte St. Luc.
“They were doing some door to door, to see if everyone was okay, and on Hudson Avenue, they located a woman who was deceased in her apartment. The SPVM was called afterward to see if there was any criminal element, which there was not. We made some verifications.”
Brabant said that after it was determined no crime had been committed, the case was transferred to the Coroner’s office.
“They will try to determine the cause of death and the circumstances, if it had any link with the power failure.”
