Las Vegas City Council approves first-of-its-kind tiny home project
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Las Vegas City Council unanimously voted to move forward with a first-of-its-kind “tiny home” project, a move that looks to put a dent in the affordable housing crisis.
“Sunridge on Searles” will be a 50-unit tiny home park located at the corner of Searles and Eastern avenues.
The $6 million project, spearheaded by Accelerated Real Estate, will use “Boxable” materials to build homes.
Boxable is a Las Vegas-based technology company that specializes in factory-built, foldable, modular homes.
Each home will be about 360 square feet in size and will cost $900-$1,000 to rent, with utilities included.
At the city council meeting, seniors who live in the area spoke in favor of the project, praising their affordability.
